Our Abundance, Their Need

Praise Him for the final 308,000 pounds of peaches processed this week! We filled 153 stacks of fruit for our last week on the field. And 22,878 pounds of dried and sulfured peach halves are in buckets, sealed, and ready to go.

Thank you so much for partnering with Gleanings for the Hungry! Together we can feed so many hungry people and share the love of our Heavenly Father, who calls us to love and care for the needy and the oppressed.

Gospel Fellowship Community Church (Oregon City, OR), the Burch family, the Herbert family, full-time staff and their families, Summer Staff, all short-term and long-term volunteers, and backpackers from Israel, Brazil, France, and Peru—may you receive rich blessings in your life in exchange for the gift of your time and energy to serve the poor.

PRAISE REPORT: Solar Panel Project Update

Construction on the solar panel field has begun!  The framework stands which will support the solar panels have all been installed.  We are very excited to see this installation happening!   The whole project is scheduled to be finished in October.  We trust the Lord will move people to give toward the last $20,000 so we can save over $100,000 per year in energy costs. The money saved will be used to send more food to hungry people around the world. God is so good.

LOVE FEAST SPEAKER: Pastor Sam Talmon, Calvary Chapel of the Sierra

Pastor Sam shared his insight on Psalm 139 at the Love Feast dinner on Friday night. He saw the bulletin board with our summer theme verse, “Where can I go from your spirit?” and knew he should speak on Psalm 139. The following quotes are by Pastor Sam Talmon:

“God knows the future, but more than that, he knows your future.”

Psalm 139:4 says, “Before a word is on my tongue, you, Lord, know it completely.”

“God, who knows all this about you, is extremely close to you.”

Psalm 139:5 says, “You hem me in, behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.”

“Your emotions have no power to separate you from the love of God.”

Psalm 139:8 says, “If I make my bed in the depths, you are there.”

“Our shame does not hide us from God’s love. God says, ‘I have already turned on the light.’”

Psalm 139:11 says, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me.”

“God made you, and he enjoyed doing it.”

Psalm 139:14 says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

“When you encounter God and attempt to look him in the eye, you feel love—and you feel contempt for evil.”

Psalm 139:19 says, “If only you, God, would slay the wicked!”

“You will be living a life that looks like someone is leading you in the way everlasting.”

Psalm 139:24 says, “See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Here are some of the thoughts that our volunteers shared on Saturday morning.

  • “We can’t see him or touch him, but he’s always here.”
  • “God made the peaches show up, he made the wood show up, he made us show up, he made everything show up.”
  • “I’m the older brother in [the prodigal son] story. After I realized that, my attitude changed a lot.”
  • “The word God gave me is ‘giving.’ Everyone here is giving.”
  • “Something the Lord is teaching me is to listen to the Holy Spirit, ‘Put up my sail,’ instead of just drift aimlessly.”
  • “We are not of this world.”
  • “Go repair those bonds, repair those breaks that have existed.”

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24
