Week: December 5th-9th

Only 16 more sleeps!!
Is anyone else as excited for Christmas as we are?!

This week we had Trinity Evangelical Free Church from Redlands, California with us, as well as the Ayars family from Corona. A homeschooling group from Helm, California also joined us for the day on Tuesday. Everyone had a great time visiting and getting to know each other while working this week, and this morning, it was hard to say goodbye.

We also had Lisa and Anna Rivera here visiting us from Guatemala. Lisa and her husband Eric were on staff at Gleanings for many years, and recently moved to Guatemala to start a feeding ministry called Hope of the Nations. You can check out their facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/hopeofthenationsguatemala/ .

In other news, we will be shut down for Christmas starting on Friday, December 16th, until Tuesday, January 3rd, so don’t worry if you don’t hear from us for a little while.

Happy Friday!

Week: November 21st-23rd

Week: November 21st-23rd

“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.” Psalm 107:1, 8-9

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Although this week was short, we had a good time working with Epicenter Church from Pasadena, as well as Life Enrichment Ministry from Temple City, California. These two groups brought along many families with young kids, and their energy gave us just the boost we needed to finish this week well, before the Thanksgiving break.

From our family, here at Gleanings, to your family, wherever you may be: have a great Thanksgiving! May your table be full of loved ones, your bellies full of all the best treats, but mostly, may your hearts be full of thankfulness to our God whose love is so good. Now, let’s eat pie!  😉

Week: November 14th-18th

Happy Friday y’all – it’s good to be back!

Last week we had a nearly empty base, as many of our staff travelled to one of two conferences; YWAM Presence Gathering in Chico, and Todd White’s School of Power and Love in Bakersfield. Both groups of staff had a blast worshipping together with other followers of Jesus, blessing people they met with prayers and kindness, and learning more about the amazing God we serve.

Back on base this week, we all had a great time with Purpose Church from Pomona, as well as two-day groups, Central Valley, and Hanford Christian Schools. 2016 production records were broken in the tray shed, and in the soup plant, where they produced a whopping 2 million servings of dried soup mix – fantastic job guys! It’s amazing what we can accomplish when we work together in unity for the purposes of God’s Kingdom.

We also got an extra dose of blessing from Don and Bertie Bibler, who graced us with their splendid musical stylings on the keyboard, and on the trombone. The Biblers met when they were only 12 years old, and have been married for 67 years, travelling around, bringing the joy of the Lord with them everywhere they go.

Thank you all for such a noteworthy week!

Week: November 7th-11th

Week: November 7th-11th

This week most of the staff were away to YWAM conference in Chico and a conference in Bakersfield. That means that we were shorthanded, but that did not stop the few that were here to have joy, fellowship, and laughter doing what was necessary to get the job done. Good week!

Week: October 31st – November 4th

Week: October 31st – November 4th

Thank God it’s Friday!

This week went by in a flurry of activity, as we prepared for our annual Donor Banquet, which we hosted this past Thursday night. We were so grateful to have had the help of Centerpoint Community Church from Granite Bay, and Canyon Lake Community Church, from Murrietta, as well as many Mission Builders and backpackers, from Canada, the US, Brazil, Spain, France, and the Netherlands.

And what a night it was! We hosted around a hundred donors, vendors, service-people, and their families, as well as nearly 70 Gleanings volunteers from all over the globe. We feasted on prime rib and cheesecake, made new friends, heard an amazing message from Josh Olson, a missionary to China, and above all, gave thanks to our God for all the people who make Gleanings for the Hungry what it is.

Thank you so much for the part that you play in allowing this ministry to fulfill its mission of feeding the hungry of the world, both physically, and spiritually. May God bless you abundantly, and may you know how very glad we are to have you as part of our team!
